Cook to Cure

Claire after the Rotorua MarathonI have just got the most amazing opportunity to help lots of Kiwi kids.

Every year the London Marathon supports charities around the world and our very own Starship Children’s Hospital is one of these charities.  I have been selected as one of the Kiwi team of 12 runners to run in the London Marathon to raise both profile and funds for Starship. This is seriously cool. For those of you who don’t know I have run a couple of marathons before – but I have never been to London and the London Marathon is certainly on my bucket list.

Anyway I have undertaken to do my best to fundraise as much as I can over the next six months – I am  working on all sorts of initiatives to motivate, inspire and gather other kiwis to support of this fantastic charity – just as well I have studied marketing because I am really going to have to stretch myself – not only on the marathon but this marathon I’m taking on!

There are so may heart wrenching and humbling stories about kids who end up on the doorstep of Starship… I am really grateful that our family has never needed to go to Starship, although William did spend an afternoon there when Mum panicked one day…  As usual with hospitals like this they are always cash-strapped and they do such fabulous work.  I really do want to help kids get well so they can be contributing happy kiwi kids!

So I have an idea….
