Hey – I’ve got a few sorts of videos - tips which I post of YouTube and recipes that screen on TV, plus some to convince you to buy my book (please I am a student!!!!)and learn to cook.. I’m adding to these all the time… They are really short and I’ve tried to make them entertaining – the first ones I did make me look like a rabbit stuck in headlights but I am getting better!?! You need to cut me some slack!?

Now this is a good one – pick up a few tricks can make you look like you really know what you are doing!!! Works for me!
To cut or not to cut – how to hold on to a knife so you won’t chop off your fingers
Sort of comes into the better-safe-than-sorry category too – but if you learn how to hold on to a knife properly not only is it safer you can get way faster… The rule…if you can feel the steel, your grip is real!
What you need to know so your food won’t kill you…
This is a ‘biggie’ – it is not a good look to poison your mates either!!
Nutrition stuff that you should know
I like the idea that you don’t need to know how a lightbulb works to get the benefit of it. It’s the same with food – you don’t need to get bogged down with details of why / how / when your body works to know what food to eat. So don’t try and get all scientific and complicated with reasons and processes. These are my foodie rules which will make things really easy for you! Believe me, if you know this you are pretty sorted.
MY TIPS
Most of these are common sense really – but it is only common sense once you know – by watching these you’ll pick up a few tricks that maybe you should know already and you’ve left it too long to ask someone!!!
How to bake a potato – this is pretty easy… compares microwave and oven…
How to blanch vegetables – this is sort of ‘part’ cooking so they softened and good to use in salads – for when you want to serve the vegetables cold…
How to boil potatoes – what size do you cut them? how much water do you add? Hot or cold water? How high? How long?…
How to boil vegetables – this is for when you want to serve the vegetables hot… how big to cut, how long to cook, how much water…
How to cook a steak – there are a few key things you need to sort to get succulent juicy meat… from rare to well done - find out what you need to do
How to caramelise onions - for absolutely amazing sweet onions for a salad,to go with meat or in a sandwich or burger… you’ve got to learn this!!!
How to cook eggs – it is seriously easy to cook an egg in the microwave – but there are a couple of things you should know! (hahah I don’t know why but this is the most popular YouTube I have ever done by heaps!!! – I think you think am going to blow the microwave up – sorry I don’t!?!!)
How to mash potatoes – this is just one thing you have to know how to do… so yummy
How to stir fry vegetables – a few quick tricks and you’ll have them perfect every time… not too soft, not too crunchy…
How to cook rice… a basic one – but its easy to get wrong…
How to make an omlette – a great light meal when you are by yourself…
How to make white sauce – this is a basic sauce used in a couple of my recipes – creamy fish pie and cheesy pasta bake

These are from the TV series am in with All Black Richard Kahu – there are 25 short little snippets – all super simple and mainly pitched for kids that love rugby and sport and are a bit younger than teenagers. So look at all the rugby -related names!!?? These are currently screening – for 25 weeks from March until the Rugby World Cup starts.

Corn Soup
Corn Soup When its cold outside a big bowl of steaming hot corn soup is just what you are after! You’ll love this too because it is so easy to make - it uses ingredients which are really cheap too so that is an added bonus!
Chop everything up, throw it in a pot, boil it up and come back 20 minutes later and its all done – can’t get any easier than that!

Baked potatoes are so so simple to make and taste fantastic… check out this (less than 2 minute) video which shows you just how easy they are to make… this is what I did onStudio 2 . One look at this and you will see anyone can make them!!! You can put any sort of filing on them – but as you could guess I show you what is the easiest!!??

Fresh Fruit Platter with Toffee Caramel Drizzle
This is very (seriously, completely, totally) simple and sweet enough to satisfy any sugar cravings! Try any sort of fruit with this – whatever is in season. It’s nice to have a combination of 3 or 4 different fruits. This is a healthy ratio of sweet to fruit. Check this out if you really feel like something that is delicious, sweet, yet still a bit healthy…
